During her first years as a lawyer she was trained in a typical ‘traffic and insurance law’ firm. Since that time Mrs Van De Velde has greatly expanded her knowledge of traffic and insurance law. She has also specialised in medical liability, chiefly to defend victims of medical errors. The liability of doctors and hospitals has been a talking point for several years and more than ever now aggrieved parties seek legal assistance to get suitable compensation for the violation of their physical integrity.

She makes her know-how and experience available to patients who are looking for justice. During the 1990-1991 judicial year, she was Chairperson of the Flemish Association of Attorneys in Brussels in its centenary year. From 1991 to 1994, she was a member of the Council of the Brussels Bar Association , chairperson of the commissie ereloongeschillen en arbitrages (fee dispute and arbitration commission).

Received her law degree from the VUB in 1975. Has been a member of the Brussels bar since 1975.
